After Market Barrel
Anyone have a favorite after market barrel manufacturer? I am going to rebarrel two rifles. I have always used Mc Millen barrels. My gunsmith friend likes Shilen. I have another friend who likes Douglas.....any thoughts. Both rifles are large cal. One will be a .300 Weatherby and the other a Remington O3A3. Thanks

I've used a couple of Douglas barrels in .300 Wby with excellent results. One on a Mark V and the other in a colt-sauer.
That is not to say the other two you mention aren't as good or anything else... I have not used them. I can only relate a positive experience with the Douglas in .300 Wby. |

What Silhouette did you use on the Mark 5......that's exactly what I'm going to re-barrel. |

I'm partial to Krieger, but I've also used Douglas, Hart, Shilen and even E.R. Shaw with good results. I won't use a Shaw on a serious accuracy gun, but for brush guns and converted military rifles, it's hard to beat the price.
Krieger Price list E. R. Shaw
