Ammo inventory

I dug out the 4 boxes of shot shells I bought earlier this week for skeets and realized that I have a total of 260 rounds of #8. I thought I only had one box.
Going thru all the shot shells I had handy, its 260 rounds of #8, 50 rounds of #7-1/2, and 25 rounds of #6. I need a better way of tracking ammo, preferably electronic.

How do you guys track your inventories? Memory aint working.

I just pretend I don't have any. Then I go buy what I think I might need for armageddon, repeat. This always insures ample supply for any occasion.

I don't have a system. I just buy a lot when I notice I'm getting low on something.

That is similar to what I do except I keep a bunch of powder, bullets, and primers on hand and reload a bunch when I see a caliber running low.

I only have the 2 at home, but I keep one solid box of rounds for the pistol at home, and about 10 shells of each for the scatter gun...

I count mine by the tins. Each one is labeled with what's in it. After a range trip I tally what's been used and then go online to buy replacements. I don't bother reloading 7.62X39 or any handgun ammo. I'm going to start reloading .223 I guess. Don't reload shotgun either. I keep a only a few boxes of slugs and 00 for the Defender and I buy upland bird by the box when I need it. Just ordered more .50 ammo boxes from Sportsmans' Guide. Should be here Monday. For some reason my ammo keeps multiplying recently.

If you haven't yet check out Wally World. They have the Federal value pack 200 round boxes of .223 for $76. They are 50 grain jacketed hollows but fine for plinking at the range. Just bought 800 rounds. Figures out to .38 cents a round. Not too bad although not what it was a few years ago either.

I guess I could just try to keep a bunch of everything, but I buy ammo a box here and a box there. I try to buy a couple boxes when I go shoot, and not shoot all of it.
Rifle and pistol ammo isn't that hard since I dont shoot a wide variety, but shot shells, I have a wider variety.
