I saw this thread on arfcom and thought I would pass it along here
What accessories have you bought for a firearm that you later took off because you got tired of it or just didn't like? (and why?)
I have tried just about every different bead on my shotgun I have found. I now have a turkey ghost ring sight that I like ok.
I have changed scopes on a .22LR a few times before I settled on a BSA fixed 4 power.

I tried the flashlight thing years ago on a Mossberg pump, the mount is sitting on the bottom of my stuff drawer.

About 10 years ago I saw an ad in The Sportsmans Guide. It was a bi-pod that clipped onto the barrel of your hunting rifle. After missing a few deer I began to wonder what was wrong. A friend told me that if you clip that thing to your barrel, (which I had free-floated btw), it moves your point of impact. Yep, I felt stupid!
A couple of years ago I bought a .357 sig barrel for my Glock 27. I was a good move and everything worked out great. However, later I saw a stainless steel barrel with a built in compensator. How cool!!!! I had to have it. Well it was cool, but the barrel stuck out about 1 inch and made all my holsters useless. By this time I had sold the previous .357 barrel and I had to buy another one. The compensated one is in my failed equipment drawer. (for sale btw!)
Knowing me, I'm sure I have a few more examples. Oh, like the 15 round magazine I have for a Glock 27.....
