What gun are you going to shoot it in? If it's an old 1911, don't do it. +P ammo is loaded to higher pressure than standard ammo and is not safe in old guns.
If it's a more modern gun, check the owner's manual to see what the manufacturer says. If you don't have a manual most companies have them online in .pdf form.

Looks like they say no.
“Plus-P’, “Plus-P-Plus” or other ultra or high velocity ammunition generates
pressures significantly in excess of the pressures associated with standard
ammunition. Such pressures may affect the useful life of the firearm or
exceed the margin of safety built into many pistols and could therefore be
DANGEROUS

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the plus P is intended more for european manufactured guns. They normally have stronger spring rates than American. The American companies kept it down for liability. Some Euro guns might not fully function using American loads.

All of these cartridges are around 100 years old, gun design and powders have come a long way in that time. Many modern guns can handle higher pressure than the old guns these cartridges were designed for, +P loadings are there to take advantage of this capability. +P is just a way to maximize the potential of an old cartridge design.

I admit, I didn't know the origin of +P, but early european autos did use hotter loads than american. Maybe +P just happened to help with the side effect? But when the CZ-75 for example, came out in the 70's, it was favored for accepting both european and american loads without malfunctioning or loss of accuracy.

Quality of the steel used in the manufacture of the gun is of utmost importance. Also the design of the barrel/feed ramp is important. A fully supported feedramp will help make the autos safe to use with +P ammo. The way to check this is to remove the barrel and drop a round into the chamber, if you can see any of the cartridge case other than the end then the chamber does not fully support the case.
It is always best to stick with the manufacturer's recommendations as to ammo choice. They may or may not be excessively conservative but they have tested their guns.

I don't believe one box will hurt anything. Shooting a steady diet of +P in a under sprung 1911 won't be good for it. Using a #18-18.5 recoil spring will make it better on your gun. I run a #18 recoil spring with a #19 main spring anyway.

mine only has 1 spring. i traded the ammo for some gold dot 230gr hp. not willing to hurt me or my gun with that +p ammo stuff.

why? When I was considering a 9mm I emailed SA and got a response from Vickie Lawrence.
Due to the fact that our entire line of XD pistols features fully supported and ramped barrels, using +P and +P+ ammunition will not damage your gun. However, we do recommend that you make sure the ammunition is American made and is in new condition (not repackaged or reloaded). Due to the increased power of +P and +P+ ammunition, the cycling of your XD may be affected by this different ammunition. If you are planning to use +P or +P+ ammo, we recommend that you fire it extensively at the range before relying on it for concealed carry or self defense. It is important to ensure that it will run reliably in your XD. Although +P or +P+ ammunition will not damage your XD, a steady diet of this higher power ammo may decrease the service life of the barrel and/or firearm.
