MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- Miami police issued a plea for information Saturday after at least one person with an assault rifle opened fire on a crowd of people on a streetcorner Friday night, killing two teens and wounding seven other people.

"These are weapons of war, and they don't belong on the streets of Miami or any other street in America," Mayor Manuel Diaz said.

I'm sure the victims family's would feel a lot better if they had been shot with single shot rifle instead.

"Assault Weapons are devised to kill a large number of people in the shortest amount of time possible"
Senator Dianne Feinstein
March 1, 2004

When questioned about the definition of a Barrel Shroud (one of the "scary" components that Ms. Feinstein stated defined an Assault Weapon) she replied,....
"I believe it is a shoulder thing that goes up"

What's scary is that she doesn't need to actually know. There are people who think they are knowledgeable about firearms that still believe the average Joe can walk into the local Ace Hardware store and buy a full-auto AR-15. These people see nothing wrong with restricting the general populace from owning a full-auto weapon, and I can somewhat understand (though disagree with) their belief. These very same (self-proclaimed) knowledgeable people tell their neighbors the assault weapons ban won't affect regular people and everyone should vote for it. These "modern" neighbors don't have a gun but vaguely remember their daddy used to hunt deer with a Remington auto-loader, and they had fun plinking with a 30 carbine clone during summer camp, and surely that will still be allowed so they agree that "assault weapons" should be banned, but don't bother to read how the government defines "assault weapon".

Ignorance is the weapon liberals use against us. They're banking on millions of city-dwellers to carry the vote about things that don't understand and don't care about. Add to that the people who should know better not bothering to do research, and they see their opportunity to sneak one past the Constitution.

Feinstein has done and said many a stupid thing in her day, but the quote you are giving her credit for she didn't say.

I don't remember who the lady legislator was that said it but I saw her on TV and it wasn't Feinstein.

After further "Google"ing, I found the following:

On the April 18, 2007 showing of MSNBC's program, Tucker, Tucker Carlson interviewed Carolyn McCarthy of New York concerning the Virginia Tech massacre and her proposed reauthorization of the Assault Weapons Ban. He asked her to explain the need to regulate barrel shrouds, one of the many provisions of the Act.[11] She responded that more importantly the legislation would ban large capacity "clips" used in the Virginia Tech massacre and that the class of guns chosen were those used by gangs and police killers. After admitting that she did not know what a barrel shroud was, she ventured a guess, "I believe it is a shoulder thing that goes up".[12] It should be noted that Virginia Tech, like most large universities, already has a policy prohibiting its students from carrying any form of firearm onto the campus grounds; assault or otherwise. [13]

So you are correct....it wasn't Feinstein.....THIS time.
