Hi all just registered here, Have been a long time member of DTR. These are a few of my guns. have had them for a while. Most are class 3. Got into collecting them about twenty five years ago. Can't afford them now as they are insane on the price tags. I have a lot of pics to post so this may take a while.

but an impressive collection.I have a lot more shotguns but will have to take pics. I have five old browning round knobs.[ that's what we always called them]Two have never been fired. They were made in the 40s and 50s. Used to collect muzzeloaders and have a few of them as well. but they are not worth much now as everyone prefers the inline models.

Here's my contribution to diesel and guns, my transferrable M60 on one of our deuces.:D

Nice collection Red Rattler. What version is your Armalite AR18/180? I had a single digit Howa built.
Wish I had taken pics over the years of our collection. Bought cheap many years ago and sold a lot for big profits. Two that I regret selling is the Colt Thompson 1921/28 overstamp in the original FBI case with two 50 round drums and my 1918A2 BAR. But both brought major coins.
A few pics of my current SHTF hardware, with a few more on the way. Top to bottom: Aussie SLR, British L1A1 and a SA-4800 (Brazilian FN-FAL)

I wish my father had kept some of his stuff he acquired in the 50s. He had tons of ****. Then Kennedy got assasinated and he sold it all. Now he just collects military sniper variants etc.
While I like the NFA stuff.:(
Nice FALs though, thats one rifle our house isnt lacking in.

Like 99% of the transferrable MP5s, Steyr AUG have registered sears/trigger packs and start life as semi auto imports.
Right now, a transferrable Steyr AUG (gun and sear etc) is $15k typically.

I guess it comes down to priorities.
One can always spend the same in cars, boats, TVs, vacations etc.

You can still have and buy them but only the ones that are already class 3they can not be manufactured and some can't be imported no more. That's the reason they are so expensive. Even some semi auto's can't be imported here. Heckler and koch is one of them.

Yes.
If you had a Steyr AUG gun and bought a registered trigger pack, you could make the gun full auto legally.
Thing is, they're expensive. Anything that's full auto capable, had to have been imported before the GCA of 1968, or made in the US and registered before May 19, 1986. Thus, supply and demand come into effect after 22 years.
Anything imported after 1968 or made (and currently imported) after May 19, 1986 are all dealer/LEO only purchaseable guns.

For private purchase, you are correct. Nothing can be made or imported for private purchase.
If one finds a Pre-1986 registered individually transferrable MP5 sear, one can drop that sear into their semi auto HK93, HK91, HK94 etc. and have a legal machine gun. The GCA of 68 started to define specifically what makes up machine guns etc. In the HK example, the sear is the registered part and specifically registered in multiple calibers for uses in different guns.
Hard to swallow that a 1oz piece of metal is worth any where from $12k-$15k.:o

found on another forum that microtech small arms has a rifle that looks like the AUG but US made and 1/2 the price. They ahve one with a rail in place of the optic.

it has been several years since i shot a steyr. scope was a little weak for this old mans eyes. it was the most accurate rifle i have ever shot. some of the shots i made at 400 measured yrds. were hard for me to believe. beer cans 3 out of5 and backed it up. painted rail road spikes a 100 yrds. put 8-9 shots in end of beer can circle. one shot dead center of the spike. yes i still have that spike on a shelf in my shop. ps my son was cutting those same spikes in half with an AR-50. it was a lot of fun.
