It always makes me laugh and is a good reminder of the 4 laws of gun safety. Of which I guess you could say he broke all 4.

Yeah, there was also the news report of the Philly, PA cop that was showing kids in a classroom her service pistol and popped off a round as she reholstered it.

Complacency breeds contempt and contempt causes negligent discharges...it just goes to show that those who handle weapons the most are still bound by the common sense safety rules we try to teach our youngest shooters.

:D In the academy, they passed around a shoe and a pair of uniform pants to give us an example of complacensy. In the middle of the sole of the shoe was a slug. The pants were ripped from the bottom of the pocket, most of the way down the right leg. The trooper was in McDonald's when a group of cubscouts cornered him for questioning while he stood in line. While answering their questions, we fiddle with the trigger of his snubby with his hands in his pocket and gave everybody a surprise. Didn't get his leg, but went through the foot.
