Anybody have experience with the brand? I just got one in .40 for plinking, and for the most part the reviews I read were decent. Havent got to shoot it yet, but looking forward to it.

I have a 9mm. Used it for a couple years as my truck gun until I took it to the range one day after it had ridden around in my truck for a couple months and had a 50% FTFire.
Cleaned it up, not its running about 25% FTF.
Im getting really light primer strikes.
Other than that, it will hit a human sized target at 25 yrds.

I've fired a few of them, and universally they've all had failure to fire issues, some 50%, others as low as 4%. I've also had front sights fall off, triggers break, and even seen one go full-auto with 5 rounds left in the mag. On the other hand, if you hang around gun ranges long enough, you'll also see other guns have problems, it just seems to me the Hi Point has them earlier in life rather than later.
If it gets you interested and on the range shooting, it's better than nothing though, that's for sure! It's kinda like trucks. Everbody knows the cheap performance boxes aren't really all that good, but when you get that first kick-in-the-pants, you're only a few months savings and a phone call away from a Smarty and Twins:D

I had a High Point .40 cal. For $100 you get what you pay for. For just plinking it's not terrible. It definitely not a reliable weapon by any means.

I have a 9mm carbine... it is a so so weapon but fun to plink with..I wouldn't trust my life to it by any stretch.

It's definately not intended for anything but plinking. I got it on a trade for a bumper I no longer needed. Still saving up for another good gun. Looking at either another SIG P226, or the XD in .357 SIG. Then maybe a SIG 1911. Probably end up with a 9MM of some sorts for the wife. Have to find one that fits her.

Wait for your local PD to do a gun turn in and get the $50 bucks for it. If you're looking for a budget gun, check Shotgun news or your local dealer for some of the law enforcement surplus guns. My Sig has thousands of rounds through it and still shoots sweet. You should fair good with the surplus.
