congratulations.
depending on how many states honor LA, you might also want to consider a non-resident FL license.

yea, your first time takes forever. But when I renewed, it didn't seem like it took very long to get the new license in.

You excited about your first wallywalk?

Finger print checks have been backed up by about 2 weeks I was told (FBI approving Census workers) so it my be delayed for a few weeks. That's what it stated on the TX web site anyway.

Well, yes and no...

Former LEO so I used to carry 24/7/365 for 5 years...

But it sure will be nice to get back in the habit.

I have a SID (state id) that shows my background and training record, that and being my record is windex squeeky clean, it should speed things up.

I have been printed recently for work done at The Federal Marshall's Service and various Federal courthouses........they told me it did not matter......the FBI still has to go through their procedure to approve you. I'm as clean as you can get also.

It was even better as a Deputy here in LA

We could carry anywhere cept for correctional facilities and bars when we were drinking

Court, school, hospitals.... any where we wanted.

But yeah, need to get back in the habit.

Guess the ole G27 will be back on duty.

I applied for mine about the 1st of May......I just got notice of a deficiency in mine and I sent back what they were asking for.......quicker than I expected ( I was figuring the end of June).....just letting you know the time line as of now.

Good deal...

I went ahead and drove down to Baton Rouge and had them look over the application and they did the finger printing. Rog's got sent back for a couple of lil issues so I figured this would cut out some of the haggle.

Good idea.......I sent in everything I was told to. However, they requested a bit more. No big deal.....just a small delay. My wife use to work in NWU in LA.....Pretty area.

Well, they have yet to cash my check.......they wanted a copy of both sides of my drivers license.......maybe because I'm out of State. I applied for TX and I'm in NM. Wasn't in the instructions I was given for the package to send in.

Its the fishbowl phenomenon.....

annabelle

Well, they cashed my check yesterday.......I hope that is a positive sign. On a negative note......I left my weapon holstered in a Crossbreed holster in the under seat storage of the CTD......was 107 that day, but the truck was never uncomfortable when I got in......bottom line, the plastic holding the weapon deformed due to heat.........now retention is too much for a nice smooth draw (as it was originally sent)......I'll contact Crossbreed and let you know of their response......they seem like stand up folks. Might be quicker and easier to fix it myself.

Crossbreed Holsters are a stand-up group. They returned my call promptly, told me to send in the holster and they would repair the holster.......no questions asked......very polite.

Received mine today........took about 8 weeks........they did request I send them something which I was not told was required......that may have delayed the process a bit. Very nice folks and very easy.

Well

I applied for my CCL on May 10th. Its August 23rd. Figured Id call and see what was going on with the situation. I actually got someone on the phone first time. Wow!

Little lady asked me for all my info then she became concerned. My CCL was approved on May 19th. That is just an 8 working day turn around and the card was mailed out to my residence.

Well apparently I never got it. And the wifey has been dutifully watching the mailbox too. I did at the end of May have a problem with some mail go missing (random incident) but thought nothing of the CCL cause I figured it would be a couple of weeks at least.

She was having a new card issued and mailed immediately. Was real nice about it too. She did tell me that the reason I was approved so quickly is a spotless record, LEO background, and technically, Im still POST certified.

At least I know I was approved.....

thats good to know. I would wait on carrying until I had the card in hand.

BTW, is post certified kinda like CLEET certification?

Blake Clark
08-26-2010, 02:08 AM
POST is (in LA anyway)

Peace Officers Standards and Trainings

Governing Body for all Academies.

What does CLEET stand for.

And no, Im gonna wait till I have physical possession of my card.

Fronty Owner

CLEET is Council of Law Enforcement Education and Training. sounds like Oklahoma's version of POST.

annabelle
08-27-2010, 02:37 AM
We have Cleet in TX. They called and I donated to them. The next day (no joke) I was inundated with calls for donations from every organization under the sun. They sold my number! Never again. A few years earlier the same thing happened when I donated to Mac Gruff the crime dog......I have finally learned.

Blake Clark

Blake Clark
08-28-2010, 08:51 PM
Well, they just changed it.

When I applied it was either 2 yrs or 4 yrs, pending on how much cash you wanted to spend.

As of Aug 15th, its now a $125 fee and its valid for 5yrs.
