Reputation points

I noticed that you can give out rep points to other members. Another forum i belong to has this option also it is a neat function. If you like what the poster has said you can add to his or her reputation points. You just click on the scales and a box will appear and you can add a comment and give the person some rep. When we had this on DTR there were some folks who abused the system. Jack wound up turning it off, I was surprised to see it turned on here.

Hopefully I'm wrong and people will behave like adults here. :)

Like others have said, there was some abuse on the "other" forum and some people take their reputation points way to seriously.

If used correctly, it can give a n00b a good idea of who to listen to and who not to listen to. However, you find out pretty quickly who is knowledgable on a forum and who isn't.

The "abuse" was just a bunch of games and pranks. He was just messing with you, no harm meant.
