Just wondering what scope yall think I should use for my AR. I'm using it mainly for Hogs and Coyotes, and don't wanna spend too much on an expensive tactical scope, but I'd rather have something like that than just a regular rifle scope. Any ideas? I'd like to have magnification, and maybe a day/night scope if I can find one thats not too expensive

So a Trijicon ACOG is out of the price range???
Do you have flat top?
Do you have BUIS?
Have you considered something like a 1.5X or 2X red dot then co-witness that with an eotech magnification module?

I looked at the Trijicon ACOG, and its awesome. If I can come up with the money, thats what I'm gonna get, but I was hoping there was something similar to that for cheaper. Ya I have a flat top. Its a remington R-15, which is a bushmaster with Remingtons camo and name on it. Its "optics ready", so they didn't put iron sites on it. Whats BUIS? I'm still learning about the ARs

For a nice shooter like that, I wouldn't go less than a leupold vari x II or a burris fulfield in 3-9 x 40. Or a comparable brand.

Have you been to the SWFA site?Go to the "sample list",there seem to be some nice deals on Nikon Monarch and other series.

You can pick up a decent non-tactical scope for under $200.
I have a 16" and a full sized rifle scope will fit, but is only a couple inches from the front sight. Looks a bit odd...

Dang. I guess I was just looking at the wrong ones. The ones I saw in the Cabelas catalog are all over 1000. That looks like what I want. But how are their prices so much cheaper? If I can get it at that price and its a good scope, then I'm sold. Thats about what I wanted to spend but these are the prices I've been seeing:http://www.swfa.com/c-225-trijicon-acog-rifle-scopes.aspx

Is that trijicon at the top there a pretty good scope? It doesn't give any info on it. Is it day/night, etc?

I have a couple extra scopes at home, but I just didn't like the look of a normal rifle scope on it

trijiCLONE no, that is a CHEAP knock off. Someone is making one that LOOKS like an ACOG, but most likely has cheaper/ less clear glass (or plastic lenses).

I put my 3x9x40 Simons scope on mine just to see how much of a shadow the front sight would throw. not much, but DANG that scope looked goofy

Aren't the Remingtons 22-24 inch? Gonna put a compact scope on a long gun with the stainless barrel for coyotes?

BUIS = BUilt in Iron Sights I'm assuming.

I have always heard it as Back Up Iron Sights.
either a cowitness to the red dot or a flip up rear (and front) sight.

No its an 18" black barrel on a camo gun. Its just as short as my M&P 15. SideXside they're pretty much the same as far as length and everything

Ok I got ya. Well its prolly not any good then. I'll probably just put a regular rifle scope on it until I can afford a nice one. Ya you're right, the regular rifle scope does look extremely goofy on there, that's why I wanted a compact one

Ok, I figured it was something simple like that. No it doesn't have those on it. It came "optics ready" without iron sights. I wish it wouldn't have though

I have looked at some clones at gun showes and they are ok on clarity, no distortion, but more like a dirty lense.

M&A and Model 1 and others sell rail mounted sights. If you gas block doesn't have a rail, changing the gas block isn't difficult.

Check the Millet http://www.ambientweather.com/rcmibk81002.html
This is just one place I found it do a google search for others.
I have read several guys like it but of course it has limitations. I myself have a Burris Timberline in 2-7 which is about right for the AR style rifles IMHO.
