Any opinions on this gun? Thinking about getting one.
Been to the range a couple of times trying their test-fire guns and so far I'm liking this one the best. I've tried the Glocks, but they just don't seem to fit my hand as well. I tried the Sig that was comparable in size (forgot the model) and just couldn't get the consistency I wanted. I imagine if I spent more time with it, I could get dialed in. But with the XD I was right on from the first round.
Just looking for some opinions from those more knowledgeable.
Thanks!

The XD is a good gun. If you like it, don't hesitate to buy it.

got mine in black, just under $500 NIB out the door.
I haven't put a lot of rounds thru it yet, just a good function test.
only drawback I have found is no elevation site adjustment, windage is only adjusted with a drift.

Any tips on where to get a deal on one? Found one online for $585 with Trijicon Night Sights and all of the XD Gear. But I'll have to pay the transfer fee to get it here. Found just the gun itself at Academy for $529. Still looking around, didn't get a chance to price one at the range when I was there yesterday.

I went to www.galleryofguns.com and printed out the lowest price.
Took it to my local dealer and asked him to match the price to save me a 45 minute drive.
He agreed to the retail price. Paid the downpayment, and three days later it had arrived so I finished the paperwork and paid the rest of the money.

The .40 SC is an awsome gun! I carry one daily and is the best I've ever owned. Light, compact, and accurate for it's size.
I would recomend it to anyone.....even smaller people who may be imitdated by larger caliber guns.

Without an external hammer on the XD, there's no way this gun can be "un-cocked" if there's a round in the chamber. So...how do you carry it ? Chambered round and cocked, or nothing in the chamber ?

chambered and cocked.
the trigger safety blocks the trigger from traveling.
the grip safety blocks the sear
as the trigger is pulled, it moves a block out of the way to allow the firing pin to move past the bolt face.
besides, it has that neat two stage trigger feel.

I think it's safer than "cocked & locked" on a 1911 because there's no manual safety that can get accidentally knocked "off" or forgotten. You gotta grab the gun (grip safety) and pull the trigger (trigger safety) before it will go "bang."

Altho, I cant use my Bianchi holster that I used to carry my old pistol in since it holds the pistol in place across the backstrap.
question tho, on a double action with a hammer, how is it safer than a hammerless double action?
