I really like my browning and my franchi, but my next will be a benelli. What do you all shoot and how do you like it.

I have a Rem 870 Express Mag in 12 gauge. I really like it. Haven't ever had a problem with it. I plan on buying a slug barrel for it next year for deer hunting.

870's are great guns. I bought one automatic gun, and don't know if I will ever buy another pump.

For hunting and clay shooting I like my Browning Citori.

For tactical/fun shooting it's the Benelli M1 S90. They are built so well and so simple.

I had a chance last weekend to pheasant hunt with a Bennelli Super Black Eagle instead of my Mossberg Maverick. While it was a fine shooting gun and had some features I liked (smooth slick recoil pad), it had some features that took some getting used to.
1. not having to pump the gun. I tried several times on follow up shots and never could get that forearm to move.
2. the floating shell on the elevator. Really, I dont like the elevator design itself, I prefer unrestricted access to my magazine
3. with the bolt open, I couldn't smoothly drop a round in to be chambered and get the bolt closed. Unloading was as much of a fiasco.
What I did like about it.
1 well, it kicked like a 20 gauge.
2. Went boom everytime it was supposed to and never when it wasn't.
3. Weight felt good to carry in the field all day.

The SBE is a fine shotgun, but I think I like my Maverick better.

New Semi Auto's the Benelli line is what I own. If you need reliablity, light weight, ease of maintenance nothing else is in the Benelli class. The Benelli take down is the easiest of any shotgun I've taken down. I've been shooting one of my M1's for 8 or 9 years in 3 gun matches and other than mag tube springs I have yet to relplace a part.

If I were going to shoot clay games I'd look at the Berreta. It's a little heavyer, less recoil.

If I were going to look for a trap only semi auto I'd look also at the Remington 1100, since you can only load one round I don't have to worry about it not functioning.

You are making the right choice in my book.

I like any gun that fits. My Fav in descending order:

1. Rem 1100 12 gauge 2 3/4, customized with pistol grip stock, 20" barrel with Colonial Arms chokes.

2. Rem 870 Express. 12 gauge 3" came witha turkey choke. The stock doesn't quite fit me but it is close.

3. My Grandads old Century Arms side by side 12 gauge cylinder choke. 20" barrels. It is quick handling and could clean out any room in the house.:D

4. Rem 29, 12 gauge, 2 3/4" PO installed a Polychoke. It shoots way too low. How he killed geese with it I will never know. Prints a foot low at 40 yds.

Guess I will be the contrarian here, like my Mossy 500, used to like my Remington 870, but kept the Stevens 311's both 12 and 20.

If I could only have 1 Shotgun, it would be the 12 Ga 311..........

You'll really like the 391s. Light, neutral balance, and they just don't jam. Seen a guy shoot just over 1300 targets before he had to push the bolt handle forward just a little bit to get one nasty old reload all the way chambered.

I second the 391's. I have several of them. I have been shooting competitive sporting clays since '01 and have shot well in excess of 100,000 rounds through my 391 sporting model. Its the older one with the mobilchoke barrel instead of the newer optima barrel. I have broken some minor parts in the past but nothing I could not fix on the spot(I keep spare parts). I will tell you now: There are two types of automatics, those that have broken and those that are gonna! The thing about the 391 is that the parts rarely break and they are easy to fix when they do.

If you are only shooting once in a while or just using it for hunting, it will probably never break. High volume competitive shooting will take its toll on any shotgun eventually....even over/unders.

The benelli's are tough as nails too and dont need to be cleaned as often as the beretta's being they are inertia operated instead of gas operated. I just could never get over the way the benelli's recoiled. They dont kick that hard but they feel like they bounce back and forth when you shoot them. That said, I would choose one over the beretta if waterfouling was my game.

Wow, I have shot a ton of the guns mentioned but I really like the Citori or Superposed Brownings for just about anything. I know I am crippling myself with only two shots but they are pretty nice to shoot and carry in my opinion.

I had the opportunity to buy a friends old Browning Twelvettes and passed them up. I wish I hadn't. That is a sweet swinging gun too.

The Bennelli's are unbelievable. Can't go wrong there.
