No gun forum would be complete without a revolver vs. semi-auto poll. I'm a revolver guy myself. I like the simplicity and rock-solid reliability of a revolver.

Personally, I like both. Carrying concealed, open, range or any other use they both have their place and I've owned both kinds and prefer both.

I've never had a revolver jam. I know I've got six for sure. But I like shooting the semiautos too!:D

I carry both. It depends on where I am and what I am doing. As my autos are all full sized they have their place while a snubbie is useful at other times.
I have had a revolver break a frame mounted firing pin. Fortunately it was a range session and not a confrontation but they do break.

Why limit myself to just one type? I don't wear only one set of footwear or one jacket. Tailor it to the situation. I've carried derringers a time or two when even my J-frame was too big to hide.
i'm a fan of the semi-auto's for carrying. i get 14 rounds instead of 6 that way. but for hunting i have used a 44 mag and a 454 casual!! now that was fun!!

Good reply Adaminak! I voted Semi-auto and regularly carry but forgot about the NAA .22 mag I've slipped into my pocket on many occasions when I had to dress up or go for a run. I wonder if I'm the only person who's carried a pistol to a church wedding in a 3 piece suit and tie? LOL....
... God I hope not.

Not only have I carried during weddings and such, I've even managed to carry my P3AT while wearing USAF Mess Dress. No pockets on the outside, no pants pockets, no waistband to speak of, but where there's a will, there's a way:D

My carry gun is a rock solid 1911. Ultra reliable and very quick.

Colt 1911 and a Taurus Millenium Pro. Both in .45 ACP. Loaded with 230gr flying ashtrays.
My hunting revolvers, .357 and .44, are just too big for SD work.

Revolvers are fun, but I'd rather rely on a semi to get the job done... ammo is cheap.

It belonged to one of my VFW members who passed away was still in the box from the 80s and no sign of being fired.
I am Honored to have it

What about levers or bolts? It all depends on what end of the house I'm at when the situation presents itself.

I use both a 38 snubbie and a 9mm semiauto. For summer carry I usually choose the 38 but sometimes I carry the 9mm semiauto. For home defense, both are grabbed at the same time. If I think I need more fire power, I reach for the 12 ga short barrel pump.

I don't have a pair....:o
Sorry to hear that, pal :p
Inherently, it is a fact that revolvers are more reliable. That does not make them infallible. I had a revolver break the part that the trigger pushes the hammer back and lets it go with. Forgive the ignorance, I forgot what it is called, it was on a S&W 686. I don't blame anything or anyone, stuff happens.
I got a Sig p226 shortly after that. After 24 years and 1000's of rounds, I have had one failure to eject on a round I loaded too lightly. That is it. Can't beat that.

Same here. Only fail-to-feed problem was cheap, gun show reloads.
Always preferred the snubby for concealed. More convenient and alot of bang for the buck.
