#4 for bear? What kind of bear? A teddy bear? I would't want to take on a bear with less than a 1oz slug. my.02

I gotta agree wiith Ofcmarc. I would think that #4 buck would not penetrate the thick fur and hide of a full grown Black Bear and it would only make them mad. 000 buck or slug would be a better choice IMHO. |

10ft?? I dont plan on ever coming that close to a live bear. Being a avid big game hunter, I would't trust anything but a 1oz slug for a bear when hunting with a shotgun.. As a matter of fact its becoming the most popular choice for a back up round for guides while hunting brown bears in Alaska.

Put a on a watermelon on a stool or bucket behind two thicknesses or 3/4 plywood and have fun.
One of the great sports writer of our century said that a single sheet of 3/4 plywood has close to the same resistance as the human skull. I figure that the black bear is a lot thicker than most people I know. |
