Build a great shooting 10/22 from scratch..
Hello guys, I have been getting cabin fever lately and I'm considering building a 10/22 to add to my collection (it would be my first gun build). So if you where to start from scratch, what kind of gun would you put together... Mainly this would be a range queen, bull barrel, decent scope, thumb hole stock (if I can find a lefty). I'm not looking for $$ competition rig, just something to be dead on at 100yards and maybe occasionally pop a squirel or two (but I have about 5 other 22's for that stuff)..
I was thumbing through a cabelas catalog today and saw a really neat looking 10/22 with a electric blue yukon stock (made by Keystone) with a blue 16.5" bull barrel (Tactical Solutions). So if you where to build a fun 10/22 thinking best bang for the buck and good looks (not really looking for the assualt style)... what would it be??? List out the parts... Stock: Barrel (make, model, length): Reciever: Trigger assembly: Scope: Lets here some ideas... Thanks |

Been there, done that. Here's my shopping list
Stock: Fajen Thumbhole Silhoutte This one is a close second and is ambidextrous: Bell & Carlson Anschutz style target Barrel: Shilen Match Grade. I had a 16" Adams & Bennett but preferred the extra weight of the 20", especially with the target stock. Reciever: Factory stainless 10/22 from my donor rifle. If I was building from scratch it would be the Volquartsen Superlite. Trigger assembly: I used the Volquartsen High Performance Action Kit but if you don't have a donor rifle to give you the bottom metal, I'd look at the Jard Trigger Guard Assembly. Scope: I kinda cheaped out because it's not a rifle I may one day bet my life on and mounted a Sightmark 4-16x44 Tactical. It's got a 30mm tube and 1/8 MOA adjustments and the price was right. This used to have a 30mm Burris Black Diamond 8-32x50 (since moved to my .220 Swift) and to be honest, up to 14 power and for what I use 'em for, I really can't tell the difference. Don't get me wrong the Burris shines at higher power but for a 22LR shooting in the daytime, spending extra money for really good glass just doesn't pay for itself. Good luck, and have fun with the build. It's one of the easiest I've ever done, and it's a good way to get into the gunsmithing realm without breaking the bank or causing undue frustration and angst ![]()

I might change my mind. This looks like a nice gun, the price is decent and I really like the looks.

Have you looked at the SR-22 from Ruger?
