Eye dominance

Not sure if this is the right section for this or not.

I'm right handed, but left eye dominant. Shooting scoped rifles right handed is no problem as I can focus easily with my right eye in the scope. I generally shoot a shotgun left-handed and I close my right eye (I know, both should be open). I can switch to right-handed, but my reflex is closing my right eye so shooting left-handed is easier. With my pistol, I can shoot with either eye as long as the other one is closed, but using my left eye is once again easiest.

Two questions...

1) What are some methods for re-training to become right eye dominant? I've heard of using tape over the left lens of glasses to force my right eye to take control. I can problem do something similar by pulling my left contact lens and leaving only my right eye with a clear picture.

2) What types of practice can I do to be able to shoot with both eyes open. If I aim with both eyes open, I get double picture on whatever my focus isn't on. If I focus on my target, I get two sets of sights. If I focus on the front sight, I get double targets. Is this something that gets better after working on the eye dominance problem, or a separate issue that just requires practice?

Your problem cannot be corrected. You need to give me your new pistol and stick with the shotgun.

Try aiming with progressive focus glasses.

I'm better with the pistol than I am with a shotgun. Maybe you need my old shotgun instead.

Im cross dominant also.
scoped rifle, I will shoot right handed by closing my left eye
open site rifle, I shoot both way, but closing the eye or atleast squinting my right if Im shooting left handed.
pistol, I shoot cross. Hold right, but aim left.
shotgun, I focus on my target, pull my shotgun up and begin tracking, then close my left eye and I make final adjustments on lead and speed.

I have the same problem. I'm right handed but left eye dominant. I also cannot close only my left eye so I learned to shoot left. I'll shoot any long gun lefty but with a handgun I shoot right handed and just swivel my head a bit.
