The guns I shoot most are SVI in .40 and 9mm. I'm debating if I will shoot the ironman in Idaho. If I do I'll use my G35.
The G doesn't shoot as well as either of the SV's but I don't want to hammer an expensive pistol for no reason.

I too own a Glock. Of course it is a 21 in .45 ACP. In the winter when I can put enough clothes on I carry it concealed. It is very accurate and dependable. It fits my hand and shoots well. What I don't like is the lack of a safety like I have on my Colts. In a high stress situation it is most likely that the trigger finger will be on the trigger too soon and cause an AD. I would like to think not, but even trained deputies have had this problem as it has been shown on the Discovery channel. So, I tend to carry it with the chamber empty. I'm sixty years old and I have carried concealed for almost twenty years. Only once have I needed to show my weapon and that was all it took to change the purp's mind. Still, I think a thumb safety would be better in my situation. I can't carry thirteen rounds in my Colt.

I have three and use them as a carry sidearm. I shoot them well and they are rugged so I have accustomed myself to them. I like the simplicity and snag free finish. However, the "safe action" trigger I have never really understood the thinking behind.

I've seen a few videos on the 'Net showing Police Officer displaying how safe that Glock "Safe Action" trigger can be when you violate rule number one.....

What concerns me most when having a gun is that it goes BOOM when I pull the trigger.

I'm not a big fan of the Glock ( they don't point and shoot well for me). However, I have a buddy who loves them. They are a well made weapon......just make sure you are comfortable with them.

I think the whole glock debate stems from what pistol you learned to shoot with. Glocks point more like revolvers, most automatics point like 1911s.

We've had a couple at work that went kaboom, but not since we switched to using only brand name factory ammo. We also had one have the rear frame rails break.
Still, I find them naturally handling and easy to shoot. Oddly, it seems the smaller ones often group better off sandbags than the bigger ones (my 27 groups better than the 22). After going through the armorer's course, I was impressed at the design, considering there was nothing similar when they first came out. |

All my natural shot gun / point, I did not for me any drastic compensation. With Glocks I need to deliberatly prompt gunpoint, for me, just does not cut fast response three-point shooting.

I have a G20sf. It's ok. Yes just ok.
It is worth most where guns are most important-- that is to say it is reliable and accurate out of the box and a whole lot of mods isn't necessary to make it as good as it can get. Like others have stated, it doesn't point naturally for me: I have to "think" more when shooting it. My Sig Sauer is a better weapon all the way around, but is not made in 10mm. My Delta Elite is 10mm, fits better, shoots better. However, it is 1/2 the capacity of the g20 and certainly not as impervious to the elements. So, the g20 ends up being a compromise for me... not a bad one mind you as we could all do worse. I do have the 20 fixed up with a ghost trigger and 22lb spring with stainless rod. Night sights in the near future. |
