Holsters???
Guys I have been around guns all my life, but entering the world of CC has been a huge learning event for me when it comes to holsters. Before having a bulky belt mounted leather holster for hunting, or just for carrying the gun to the range was enough. Now I have become neck deep in different versions of holsters, carry positions, material types, etc... My head is starting to hurt trying to figure them all out...
I want to buy a good holster for my FS M&P 9mm, and start looking at (considering) holsters for the c9 I plan on getting but I don't feel comfortable taking my gun into a gun shop and loosening my belt and trying out holsters when I really don't know the names of different styles, etc.. Also I want to modify a holster to mount a gun under the dash of my truck, but I am having a hard time finding something like this (something that will be formed to the gun but have extra surface area for some mounting screws.I have looked around the web for a good description and use for each holster but haven't really come up with any one site that does this. So do you all think it would be a good idea to have a list (maybe pin it to the top of a forum) of the different styles of holsters, a brief description, and most common use for each? Paddle, Pancake, OWB, IWB, Pocket, Sling, etc... Man it sure is alot to try and figure out for a guy new to the custom holster world.. Post what you know and I will try and copy/paste it all in one posting... Thanks in advance... |

For my CC, I have a Blackhawk for my compact Glock. It is an OWB and it hugs the side of your hips quite comfortably. Winter is no problem as i can always put a coat on and it wouldn't matter.
For summer, I have my IWB. It's called Ace and it fits my Mosquito, Glock and my XD quite perfectly at 1 oclock. Pro about this is that you can wear a t-shirt and tuck it in and just blouse it over the gun. Nothing will show but the clip that you put over your belt. No one will ever know unless they also carries. Or you can carry on your thigh... http://www.handgunholsters.net/ As for hiding your gun in your car, here is one solution: http://quickdrawgunmagnets.com/ or this one: http://store.thewilderness.com/index.php?cPath=70_51 'Hope this helps...let us know what you decide. ![]() |

I just got a Crossbreed Snapslide for my Springfield SC 9mm and am very impressed with it. Retenion is awesome and the whole set-up is very concealable even with a short sleeve shirt (loose fit). I'm impressed.
