I wonder what the reasoning is for no buckshot. We have a lot of dense underbrush because there isn't very many old growth trees left. That is the reason for the use of deer hounds and buckshot. The club I belong to doesn't allow anything but pure lead buck shot. Slugs are out because of their ability to penetrate longer distances and you can't see past 20 yards in some cases. We call it "deer skeet" when it is like that.
They won't allow copper coated shot because they bounce a very long distance compared to soft lead and we do some open field shooting too. Population density is climbing and our safe shooting lanes are diminishing. Because of the bad economy there have been a lot of land transfers and subsequent loss of hunting rights. |
