Newbie question
I have an opportunity to purchase a Ruger wheel gun (not sure if it a redhawk or blackhawk at the moment) in 44 mag SS. I have seen it and it looks like its never been shot. I know the person who owns it and he takes care of everything. I was wondering if the $300 he wants for it is a good price, a ripoff, or a steal. Thanks in advanced everything.

Super Blackhawk would be a Single Action, load one at a time, Redhawk is a Double Action, swing out cylinder, either is worth more than 300 bucks.
What are you going to do with it, and how much experience do you have with handguns? Both kick like a mule. |

Between the military and general exposure in life I have average experience with firearms. I planned on using to for hunting in northeastern part of the country. The pistol is a double action. I was mostly concerned with the value of the pistol, as I would not want to spend more than it is worth. As I had said the pistol barely looks like it's ever been fired, although I know for the fact that it has. If there is any other info that I should know please educate me as my limited knowledge is more on operation and maintance than on prices on firearms. Thanks in advanced.

Ok, you have a good one there. I personally shot Rugers with full house loads because they are in my estimation, the strongest ones out there in common circulation. They do have somewhat rougher triggers than real old school Smiths, but nothing that would cause you problems for general use, such as hunting. I carried a 7-1/2" Stainless Redhawk and currently have a 7-1/2" Super Blackhawk, love/loved both.
Value is way above what the guy is asking, if you choose not to get it, let me know where I can get it from, values would be 600 up. Here is the current listings on Gunbroker. http://www.gunsamerica.com/Search/Ca...dhawk-Type.htm |
