Norinco knockoff

Has anyone had any experience with the Norinco Model 93/97 shotgun. It is similar to the Winchester in appearance and function but a lot cheaper. I'm looking at buying a new one because of the price (300.00) but I don't want to get burned.

they are chinese made. I see them mentioned on Cowboys on the outdoor channel.

Yes, I own a copy of the Colt 1911A1 which I got fairly cheap. The fit and finish is fair and it shoots great after a little work.

I have a Norinco 1911 that has been a good gun but I don't know much about their shotguns.


$300 seems a little high considering I picked up an original Winchester for $425 not too long ago.


It was an ex-Salt Lake PD gun and has some kind of compensator on the barrel but other than that it is in very good condition.

There was a Win 97 at my local gun shop that needed an extractor. A buddy picked it up for $200 and said that for another $100 he could have it repaired and setup for cowboy work.

If the truth was known I would really like a Model 12 Winchester pump but, I don't have the loose change.

I'll just have to settle for my Remington 29, 12 gauge pump.

Im not much into cowboy action, Ill stay with my Maverick 88 Field.

I hate to say it, but I would rather support Mexico than China...

I've never done any "cowboy action" shooting or seen any for that matter. I had the privilige of using an old Whinchester model 12 at the Bull Run skeet range back in the seventies and never forgot the experience. It was a rattle trap and I had to be careful to make sure the slide was "snapped" all the way forward or it wouldn't shoot. The push button take down feature really intriques me. I have heard it refered to as "the poachers gun". You can break it down into two parts. The rear stock and receiver assembly and the barrel and slide assembly. Then you could slip each part into the inside pockets of a trench coat. Reassembly is no more than sliding the armory thread of the barrel into the receiver and giving it a quarter turn to lock.

the mossberg 500 and maverick 88 are pretty sloppy gun, but they good guns. Im not sure I would be fully comfortable with a shotgun that the bolt didn't lock into the barrel.

That model twelve belonged to a friend and it was a family heirloom that was worn out before I shot it. His grandfather passed it down to his father and so forth.

All this is kind of moot now. I found an 870 Express Mag. for $200 and couldn't pass it up.
