Out the box cleaning

What is proper procedure when un boxing a new shotgun. Can anyone tell me what they do/did I know some ppl just un box and shoot is that ok or is it harmful

field strip the firearm, clean it with a degreaser like break-free and lube it with your favorite gun oil (CLP).

Field strip is that removing everything from the receiver as well?

pretty much.
the owners manual will detail their recommended level of field stripping.
What firearm did you get?

page 34 is the detailed cleaning routine.

basically, you'll strip it to its major components, trigger group, bolt group, gas parts, and clean and lube.
