Ruger SR9c
Now I'm looking at getting a Ruger SR9c 9mm brushed stainless steel for my new CCW, any advise?

I haven't had any experience with the ruger sr9.
Personally, I carry an XD SC in a crossbreed super tuck holster. If the pistol is reliable, a good holster will help conceal just about anything.

I was thinking of ordering a crossbreed super tuck holster. One of my top picks.

its really comfortable, but, it locates the pistol a bit further back than I carry with smaller holster.
I usually slide it around so the gun is about 3 oclock, but it carries more comfortably about 4 oclock.

X2 On the holster........40 S & W has superior knock down power if the Ruger is available in that caliber, or my favorite ........45. |

Be sure to test fire one......grip looks a bit short for my hands.......................may be just right for you.......If you go with the 9mm, Shooting Times tests showed that the lighter Hydroshock (123 gr if I remember right) had better man stopping ability than the heavier 147 gr. bullet (much to my surprise) My wife carries a 9 mm and I loaded the lighter bullet in her Hi-Power.

some find the .40S&W to be a bit snappy. 9mm is fine with quality self defense ammo. .45ACP is a good round. the gun magazine writes would have you believe that its the only round you should carry. the .45 ACP has some push to it and is a big heavy slow slug.

I agree the 9mm needs the right ammo........just don't use hardball ammo with it........I knew a man that survived 10 thru and thru hits form a 9mm with hardball ammo.........it does not lack for penetration.......nothing like 230 grs. of .45 being sent to the bad guy.......I must say I don't really notice much difference in recoil between my 9mm Browning and the H & K in .40 S & W...........I was actually surprised by the much superior knock down and stopping power characteristic of the .40 over the 9mm.

the pistol makes a difference.
My XD sub compact with a 3" barrel is much different in recoil than my 5" 1911.

Grew up shooting .44 and .41 Mags...........also rifle and wildcat caliber Contenders.......so I guess I don't notice much difference in recoil from .45 to 9mm.
