My 4 1/2" Commander conceals reasonably well in the horizontal position.

My 3" barreled S-A EMP is practically invisible.

i agree with the practice thing. i just think it will be more comfortable and accessable in winter clothes.

I assume you meant magazines since the .45 does not utilize a stripper clip.
