Can't go wrong with a Russian model.

Don't know of any real issues with the SKS, other than just wear and tear. Stick with the stock 10rnd mag, I heard of too many issues with the aftermarket hi-cap mags installed.

Check this site for a whole bunch of info. http://www.yooperj.com/SKS.htm I have a 1955/56 Russian Tula all numbers matching SKS non refurb non issued. It's a real gem. It is all milled not stamped and I like it alot. The only problem with the old Russians is sometimes it's hard to find parts for them. Mine is missing the handguard and I have been looking for a Russian Arctic Birch handguard for about 3 months now with no luck. Here is a pic of mine.

I have several The Albainian appears to me the best made but they are now hard to find. The Yugos are the eaisiest to find because they are still being imported but they do not have a chrome lined barrel as most other sks's do and have a fixed grenade launcher with tritinium night sights that have depleted over time and no longer function.
