Smith & Wesson M&P9

I bought a M&P9 (new) last November. I have been struggling with this gun since day 1.. It fires fine (hasn't jammed yet), the trigger is a little gritty but getting better, but the sights on this thing are not where near correct. It seems like the gun can't hit the broad side of a barn. I am pretty much at wits end here... Tonight I took it to the indoor range and couldn't even get on paper with a 12"x12" target (aiming at the center) at 15 feet. I was worried it was me, so I let 2 other shooters there try it also, they had the same results. It seems like the gun is shooting to the right, and low about 8".. I can drill paper all day long with my Ruger Mark II, and a Smith .357 revolver, but this gun is killing me...

I have never tried to send a gun off to get it checked out or anything, is this something S/W is responsible to fix or am I just better off trying to find a good local gun smith and letting him go over it??? I am really let down with this gun, after hearing such good reviews I was excited about getting this gun, now it makes me sick to take it to the range. I really bought gun for more of a home defense gun but with the accuracy I am getting from it, I would be better throwing it at the prep instead of firing it...

m&P 9 revolver??? hum.. who'd a thunk it....

anyway. the sights are a drift in right? (I think your sights are setup the same as my XD.
You should be able to install a laser bore sight and check the sights on it. then use a hammer and drift to move the sights as needed.
Smith should do the work for you if you would rather. the sights probably got knocked around in shipping and handling (atleast that is the story SA uses).

Opps sorry, I guess in my frustration I posted in the wrong forum... Yes the sights are adjustable for windage, but this gun is shooting roughly 8" low also, I don't know of a way to fix that with the current sights.

I'm guessing I need to give smith a call and see what they have to say...

Thanks for the advice..
