These banks are SICKENING!

Wasn't sure if I should post this to the political section or just the off the topic, but since it involves our banks and their sickening greed, figured I would put it here first. Sorry, it's a bit of a rant and a little long.

I just got off the phone with Bank of America Military.

Noticed on our credit card online statement that there was a ?finance charge? for roughly $13 on there this month and after reviewing past statements, have noticed that these ?finance charges? have been coming out consistently every month and unless you review your online banking statements every month (which I haven't for this account since I haven't used it in months) you will never even know that it is happening because these finance charges aren't reflected on our paper statements.

When I asked the representative on the phone what they were, she said that it was our 6% interest fees. When I told her that if our minimum payment is $37 per month (which already INCLUDES our interest) then $13 of that is actually 35%.

She then tried to tell me that we are charged 1% interest on the money that we OWE on TOP of the 6% interest rate (which means NEVER have a balance and NEVER use your credit card or else) and that provision was NEVER explained to me when I was issued the card nor do I recall reading it in my contract.

I told her that our BOA Military experience has been nothing but crap ever since we found out that we weren?t allowed to be issued our own statements without paying FEES for them EVERY time that we need them and that I can see why BOA is reporting the biggest losses of all the banks for the first quarter of this year and will be requesting MORE tax payers? dollars in order to not fall on their faces.

I can?t WAIT to have our balance paid off with the pigs so that we can pull our money out and put it elsewhere where MAYBE, it will be more appreciated.

Our ?Savings? account with them was SUPPOSED to be accruing interest in OUR favor for the dollars that are in it and NEVER has since the day we opened it and when I inquire about it, am told that I will receive a call back after a rep has had time to "sit down and review my account" and have yet to hear back from anybody.

When I asked her why I had to give them permission in writing to give me my OWN statements when the civilian sector does NOT, she said that it was for security purposes. When I asked her why they even have security questions (such as last 4 of the social security number, date of birth, address, etc) so that they can discuss personal information over the phone, why those same questions can?t get me a faxed statement, she went on about identity theft. When I asked her if she REALLY had that much wool over her eyes that she didn?t think that the same person on the phone couldn?t forge a signature for those statements just as easily as they could get the answers to their ?security questions? she got an attitude.

I had her put a manager on, told him that their business is mediocre at best and that they should be ashamed of themselves for charging their military members extra money for what is already rightfully theirs and then have the audacity to take ?finance charges? out against the same people, especially when we haven?t used the card in MONTHS. If we were only fortunate enough to make our minimum payments of $37 a month, even though we like to triple that amount (which is better of than MANY out there are right now) and they were pulling their grubby $13 a month out on top of that, it would take us the rest of our LIVES to pay off our credit balance.

Wonder why this country is doing so poorly? Call the banks (who still claim to need a bailout) and ask them why.
