Well, based on the info in this thread, I ordered the 10.5" LMT upper with the enhanced bolt. I also ordered the Tactical Innovations T15 receiver with a Stag lower parts kit with the standard trigger. I also have a quad rail and vertical grip from UTG coming as well as a Command Arms stock along with some other odds and ends. I'll post pics once I'm done putting it together.

Thanks again for the excellant write up.

staarma, if you mean a 10.5" barrel, you might wanna do some more research, unless your licensed. Under 16" is a no-no if they even ship to ya. Same I believe for the enhanced bolt. I'm guessing they are referring to an M-16 bolt, as oppose to an AR15? If so, you need licensing to touch those.

the bolt is legal for anyone.
the bbl is a $200 tax stamp and the receiver must be marked (have this done before applying so you have a good serial number and you dont spend $200 to have a destroyed receiver taxed)
I believe there are only three parts in the M-16 receiver that is illegal, sear, interrupter, drilled receiver.

without taking too much out of context. its fire control components BCG isn't fire control

Yeah, in MT you have to fill out a form 1 along with a double set of prints and register it as a SBR then get the lower engraved. No biggy except for the $200 tax but I always wanted a short barrel because they look super cool. Silencers in MT are the same class 3, but I'm not putting one of those on as it defeats the purpose of going short barreled. The enhanced bolt is still an AR-15 semi auto bolt but it has a little better extraction and engagement is all plus it's polished bling bling.

Great sticky!

But now I have a question on my two favorites, Wilson Combat and Les Baer.

How do those stack up? I know they are pricey but are they worth it?

If you want a really accurate rifle then I would go with one of their setups. For a carbine I would go with the models in the above article.

My next AR is going to be a mid-length carbine. The short gas system runs so fast and is really hard on the bolt and other parts of the gun.

They're not cheap, but you can get a standard length gas tube that is bent or coiled to fit under standard handgaurds on a carbine. Don't know if they foul easier or not? Otherwise an adjustable gas block?

That is why I want a mid-length, then there is no need for any of that.

Yeah, but it's nice it's there for more options. Not sure a guy could get a 1x7 twist in midlength for example? Or, if you wanted a bayonet to fit at all.

I am not real concerned about 1x7 since almost everything I shoot is under 62 grains. I might go for a SPR 1x8 twist, they have those in a mid-length.
